IFC Expands Franchise Finance Program

IFC has expanded its franchise business initiative, establishing dedicated business development managers and bolstering its offering of franchise related services.
The franchise market is substantial: The International Franchise Association estimates that the franchise industry in the US employs 10 million people and that there are over 760,000 establishments operating as franchises. IFC works with both franchisees and franchisors.
Financing has long been an integral part of franchising. While there are multiple financing options available, leasing is an attractive option especially for multiple location franchisees.
“When looking to become a franchisee, one of the primary concerns for most individuals is having adequate sources of initial capital, and IFC can get franchisees over this hurdle” said John Estok, President of IFC’s Small Ticket division. “This also enables the franchisor to achieve their growth objectives.”
According to Entrepreneur Magazine’s 2006 Franchise 500® list, about two-thirds of franchisors offer either third-party financing or a combination of third-party and in-house financing for qualified franchisees. With this perspective, Estok sees significant opportunity in the market. “At the International Franchise Association meeting earlier this year, there was considerable interest on the topic of equipment leasing and financing.”
IFC understands the franchise industry, having provided franchise financing in some selected industries over a 20 year period and having provided successful financing for well-known organizations.
IFC offers many services to franchisors, but it specializes in four programs to address common franchising needs.
“We focus on financing new locations for new franchisees, expansion for existing franchise owners, the acquisition of stores either from another franchisee or the franchisor, and re-imaging programs,” said Estok.
IFC is a member of the International Franchise Association.
